What’s the purpose of life ?
Many people struggle with this age-old question. Why are we here ?

Eckhart Tolle’s book A New Earth has the subtitle “Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose” but what is the purpose we must awaken to ? In his book Eckhart talks about humanity being caught up in a state of mindlessness. He argues that humanity exists in a state he calls “object consciousness” where our reality is centered around our self-image.

There needs to be a shift in consciousness starting with the individual. “It’s everyone’s responsibility to break free from mindlessness and wake up to their true life’s purpose.”

When you begin to explore the teachings of Eckhart Tolle it can be helpful to connect with other like-minded people. Local support groups are a wonderful way of connecting with others to share the teachings and deepen your practice.

Freedom From Fear and Anxiety - London Workshop - May 25th

In recent years there has been a significant increase in the number of people reporting to feel anxious and afraid. Fear and anxiety are a natural part of being human however for many people they can come to dominate their lives. Eckhart Tolle himself suffered from severe anxiety up until his awakening at the age of 29.

In order to find freedom from fear and anxiety we need to understand their origin and roots. These are normal protective mechanisms designed to keep us safe, however sometimes the nervous system can become dysregulated causing the body/mind to go into a state of heightened arousal, resulting in anxious thinking patterns.

Traditional Western psychological approaches, such as CBT, aim to try and change or suppress these fear based thoughts and emotions. Eastern contemplative traditions however take a more radical approach in dealing with the turbulence of fear and anxiety.

Join us on May 25th when we will explore, with the aid of teachings from Eckhart Tolle and others, what fear and anxiety really are and how we can take a radical new approach to finding freedom from these debilitation conditions.

This will be an experiential afternoon with exercises, tools, meditations and video teachings. I do hope you can join us.

These are an opportunity for you to retreat from the busyness of day to day life and immerse yourself in the peace and tranquility of the Cornish countryside.

These include :

  • One to one time with myself to explore what you bring to retreat and what you discover during your stay.
  • Meditation practice. Stillness and silence are an important part of any retreat. It is only by spending time in stillness that we can really begin to find our true self. I recommend reading Eckhart’s book “ Stillness Speaks “ before attending a retreat.
  • Time in nature. We are surrounded by the wonder of nature but so very rarely see it. Spending time in nature is one of our greatest teachers.

The beautiful countryside of Cornwall offers a unique learning ground in the practice of presence.

It’s time to pause and slow down. Listen to the voice of your heart, it’s calling you home. If you are tired of life, feeling stressed, unhappy or dissatisfied with any aspect of your life, and ready for change, then a retreat may be for you. There is a different way to live. It’s time to rest, reflect and discover who you really are.
